Open Studios Macedon
Artists of Macedon are opening their studios this spring over the weekend of 7 & 8 November 2026
These studios are all set within a short drive of each other in either leafy Macedon or Mount Macedon, and will feature artists at work who will demonstrate and discuss how they approach their art in their home studio setting.
Each will have original works on display and for sale.
The artists invite you to share their inspiration and creations in a range of media including painting, botanical art, portrait drawing, encaustic, ceramics, felt, silk painting and machine embroidery.

What is Open Studios Macedon?
Open Studios Macedon is a special weekend when artists across Macedon and Mount Macedon open their working studios to the public. It’s an opportunity to meet local artists, see where they work, learn about their creative process and discover original artworks for sale.
When is Open Studios Macedon 2026?
Open Studios Macedon will take place on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 November 2026, with participating studios open from 10am to 4pm each day. Entry is free.
How does Open Studios Macedon work?
Open Studios Macedon is a self-guided experience. Participating artists open their studios across Macedon and Mount Macedon, with the studios located within a short drive of one another.
Choose the artists and studios you’d like to visit, then make your own way between locations. Check the individual artist information before setting out for addresses and any specific visitor details.
Do I need to book?
No. Entry to Open Studios Macedon is free and there is no general event ticket required. Simply visit the participating studios during the advertised opening hours.
Can I meet the artists?
Yes. Open Studios is a chance to meet artists in their own working environments, see works in progress and chat about their materials, techniques, inspiration and creative process.
What sort of art can I see?
The 2026 Open Studios program features a diverse range of creative practices, including painting, botanical art, portrait drawing, mixed media, encaustic, ceramics, felt, silk painting, textile art and machine embroidery.
Can I buy artwork?
Yes. Participating artists will have original works on display and for sale, giving visitors the opportunity to purchase directly from local artists.
Are the studios open throughout the year?
Not necessarily. Some participating artists work from private studios that are only open to visitors during Open Studios or by appointment. For example, Yvonne O’Connell’s private garden studio is open during the 2026 Open Studios weekend, and otherwise visits can be arranged by appointment.
Always check the individual artist listing before visiting outside the Open Studios weekend.

Use the current Open Studios Macedon and individual artist information online to plan your visit, including studio addresses and opening details. The studios are spread across Macedon and Mount Macedon but are within a short driving distance of each other.

Yes. Macedon and Mount Macedon are around an hour from Melbourne, making Open Studios an easy day-trip option. Visit a selection of studios, meet the artists and combine your day with local food, gardens and other things to see and do in the Macedon Ranges.
