Beyond the Macedon Ranges

The Macedon Ranges is a perfect starting point to explore the Central Highlands and Spa Country of Victoria.

The regions surrounding the Macedon Ranges are full of award-winning restaurants, cafes, wineries and fresh produce. You will find boutique producers of fine giftware and craft and people who pride themselves on providing unique country experiences.

The Daylesford and Hepburn Springs region is just a short drive via Woodend. The area is renowned for its luxury accommodation and gourmet regional food and wine, as well as having the highest concentration of naturally occurring mineral springs in the country.

Take in the bustling Daylesford township over a cup of coffee and alfresco meal, the beautiful Daylesford Lake while browsing for a book, or tuck yourself away in an isolated corner of Hepburn Springs with a massage and open fire.

Sunbury, on the Calder Highway, is one of the oldest wine-producing districts in the state and features historic treats such as the Rupertswood Mansion (birthplace of ‘The Ashes’) and the Gatehouse Restaurant.

The Macedon Ranges is connected with the Hume Highway via Lancefield through Kilmore and Heathcote. The main street of Kilmore features a dozen fine heritage buildings where arts, crafts and antiques abound. Heathcote is home to some of the best Shiraz-growing wineries in the world.

Out west are Melton and Bacchus Marsh. Melton is a growing and vibrant city of history, culture and leisure activities, while Bacchus Marsh is a food bowl for Melbourne and the state.

Historic Bendigo is the cultural capital of central Victoria. Not only does it boast the finest regional art gallery in the state and the stunning Capital Theatre, Bendigo has a celebrated focus on gold rush heritage and bourgeoning food and wine industry. Visit Bendigo via Castlemaine to expand your artistic and culinary adventure.
