Built in 1876 as a summer retreat for Suetonius and Mary Officer, the home offers a rare glimpse into a bygone era of elegance and refinement. Today, it comes alive with Stuart Stoneman’s extraordinary private art collection, thoughtfully displayed throughout its richly detailed interiors. Wander through and discover a captivating fusion of stunning architecture and remarkable artworks in this truly unique heritage experience.
The Garden
Hidden behind towering eucalypts and dense holly hedges on the southern slopes of Mt Macedon lies one of Australia’s most extraordinary heritage estates.
For over 150 years Duneira has enchanted visitors from across the globe. With it’s imposing Italianate villa set amongst 38 acres of botanically significant gardens, this remarkable hill station continues to delight and inspire visitors.
Duneira Estate Garden is ablaze with sensational Autumn colour, and upon entering the gates visitors encounter one of the best surviving examples of a privately owned avenue in the Southern Hemisphere. The iconic 500m Dutch Elm avenue affords a spectacular backdrop for keen photographers. Explore the secret garden and discover the 145 yr old weeping Cherry tree, stroll through the orchards to the north of the historic homestead and walk through the labyrinth. Take a break in the courtyard before visiting our resident Llamas.
