More from Woodend Winter Arts Festival

The Woodend Winter Arts Festival is an annual celebration, showcasing the very best of classical music from Australia and internationally, along with a lively literary and visual arts program. The event takes place across various venues in the charming village of Woodend, over the Queen’s Birthday long weekend, from 10-13 June, 2022.

This year’s event will kick off with a fireworks display Buffalo Stadium on Friday 10 June. This free event will be a fun evening out for the whole family and will include live entertainment from the a cappella vocal ensemble Melbourne Octet and Japanese drummers Wadaiko Kindo, various food vans will also be onsite on the night.

Other highlights include two incredible concerts by world-renowned ensembles – Ensemble Gombert and the Australian Romantic Classic Orchestra. A fascinating discussion with best-selling author Sarah Krasnostein and the screening of ‘A little bit Mongolian’ a film by award winning documentary film maker Michael Dillon. The festival will close with a lively dissection of the Federal election with Sean Kelly and Sally Warhaft.

A scaled-back version of the event is taking place in 2022 due to the Festival’s main hub currently undergoing major restoration works, and in light of the continued challenges faced by the evolving Covid situation. Plans are in place to return the festival to full capacity in 2023.
