Cadella Park is pleased to welcome guests to its inaugural open garden within the breathtaking Macedon Ranges.

Cadella Park is a working farm with a rich past, inclusive of historic building,s and a landscape where agricultural and pastoral activities have flourished since the late 1830s.

With the highly experienced venue team behind Prunella, you can expect exceptional catering and a delicious and thoughtfully curated drinks list as well as a pop-up store by the Woolshed, Kyneton, and many other stalls, including a petting zoo, and music.

Prunella Events are delighted to offer a selection of garden party treats in the lush surroundings at the Cadella Park Open Garden and Fair. From our garden champagne bar we’ll be serving a selection of drinks including beer, wine, sparkling, soft drinks and our signature Spritz. Savoury snacks to accompany will include a gourmet sausage sizzle, classic chicken and herb sandwiches and selection of cheeses and accoutrements to be enjoyed on the lawn under the magnificent Pin Oaks.

In the Barn our pop up Prunella cafe will be serving coffee and a selection of sweet favourites including passionfruit sponge, carrot cake, scones and brownies.

We are also incredibly excited to have Simon Rickard joining us over the weekend to conduct garden tours and talks. Simon’s gardening passions are many and varied and he has appeared on Gardening Australia, Postcards, Getaway and has contributed articles to ABC Organic Gardner as well as endless other accolades.

More about Cadella Park
Until its renaming in the 1950s, Cadella Park, was called ‘Oatlands’ – a 650 acre property originally known for its oat crops.

In other phases of its history, Cadella Park has been noted for its prestigious horse racing stables – credited with housing the 1933 Melbourne Cup winner (Hall Mark) – and the establishment in 1963 of an internationally known Murray Grey stud which pioneered the breeding and export of these cattle to America winning many local awards.

Cadella Park Today – the Garden
Cadella Park, is a family home, a working farm, and a venue for hosting private events. It covers an area of 120 acres with the garden and buildings occupying eight acres. It has not previously been open to the public.

Cool and shady in the summer and glowing with colour in autumn, the farm complex is located at the end of a long gravelled driveway featuring magnificent towering elms, some aged up to 180 years old, and flanked by clipped tapestry hedging – largely comprised of hawthorns.

Well-maintained mature evergreen and deciduous trees are a predominant feature of the garden including poplars, cedar species – including Himalayan cedar (Cedrus deodara), along with a huge Monterey pine, maples, and willows, to mention a few. There are also mature cypress hedges, many clipped and variegated shrubs, and other plantings of various periods with more recent additions designed by Simon Rickard.

Meandering through Cadella Park’s luxuriant grounds and historic, rural spaces, you can relax and enjoy each moment.
