Botanical Visions: Unearthing Mount Macedon’s Garden History
Plan your visit to Fields of Gold – 2025 Kyneton Daffodil & Arts Festival in the Macedon Ranges
With winter almost at a close, the historic village of Kyneton is set to welcome in the return of the Kyneton Daffodil and Arts Festival, commencing with workshops in late August, and the Festival itself from 5-14 Sept, 2025.
The Kyneton Daffodil & Arts Festival isn’t just an event—it’s a whole of town experience welcoming in the arrival of spring as marked by the town’s abundance of butter-yellow daffodils.
Celebrating spring, community, and creativity, locals and visitors alike can expect art exhibitions, live music, garden tours, markets, food competitions, and of course, stunning floral displays.
Whether you’re an admirer of spring bulbs, a foodie, a family looking for fun, or an appreciator of the arts, the 2025 festival has something for everyone.

At the heart of the Festival is the Spring Daffodil Show, a breathtaking display of daffodils at the Kyneton Mechanics Institute, 6 Sept.
Visitors to Kyneton can also follow the whimsical Scarecrow Trail (5–14 Sept) featuring scarecrows created by the local community. Each with its own quirky personality ensures a fun adventure for young and old.
You can also help create the Trail by taking part in Scarecrow Making Workshops at Old Auction House Galleries 30-31 Aug.
Or join the Bald Hill Reserve Walk on 5 Sept – a free, ticketed event where you can connect with nature on a guided tour through one of Kyneton’s most beautiful reserves.
And don’t miss Festival Opening Night, 5 Sept at The Old Auction House Galleries – think music, mingling, and celebration, 7–9 pm.
Where and what is the Golden Mile?
Uncover the luminous Golden Mile at one of the main entrances into Kyneton. When in bloom, expect masses of magnificent daffodils, as far as the eye can see…or technically a mile-long, approximately 2-metre-wide strip of mass-planted daffodils along Burton Avenue.
Visitors are encouraged to enjoy a visit to the Golden Mile and to enjoy the sweet scent of spring. It should be noted that picking the daffodils is strongly discouraged.
Kyneton Daffodil Art Prize
The 2025 Kyneton Daffodil Art Prize encourages participation from Australian artists aged 16 and over, working in both two-dimensional and three-dimensional forms. Artists can submit up to four works across categories including Esther Rose Watercolour, Oil Painting, Acrylic Painting, Works on Paper, Photography, and Other Medium/Sculpture.
While you don’t need to include a daffodil to compete for the category prizes (each awarding $250), artworks containing a daffodil are automatically in the running for the prestigious overall prize of $1,000
2025 entries must be dropped off at the Old Auction House Galleries, 52–56 Mollison Street, Kyneton, by 4pm, 29 August.
Winners announced on opening night, Fri, 5 Sept, with the exhibition of entered works available for viewing throughout the Festival.
