Lost Trades Artisan Workshop – Leather belt workshop 9am – 12pm
Alan has a long history in working with leather, growing up in the Victorian high country as a cattle drover and for many years making and repairing harnesses for all manner of horse-work and running his fathers saddlery business in Gippsland. Alan has been working with leather for more than 50 years. Alan’s work displays a high level of knowledge and craftsmanship.
During the class you will be taught about selecting the right leather for the project, leather grain, cutting, edging, burnishing and hand stitching with waxed linen thread in the traditional twin needle method. You will learn about the traditional ‘tools of the trade’ and get to use a selection of beautiful leather hand tools to complete your belt.
