Go horse riding through the Wombat Forest

Experience the most beautiful views of the Macedon Ranges and the Wombat Forest from horseback.

Choose from a two-hour or three-hour ride that includes a stop along the way for refreshments. You can even book a special romance package for two that includes a picnic with local wine in a rustic cottage.

Rides will be at a nice steady pace to suit all ages and experience levels (minimum age is 12 years and anyone under 18 must be accompanied on the ride with an adult). A pack horse will also accompany the ride to give the real feeling that you have stepped back in time.

Bookings are available 7 days a week including public holidays (excluding Christmas Day).

Visit an urban cellar door

After all that fresh air and exercise, reward yourself with a relaxing wine tasting experience at Kyneton’s very own urban winery, cellar door and wine bar.

Musk Lane Wine is tucked away down an alley and is one of our hidden gems.

During the warmer months you can sit outside, or when it’s cold head get cosy inside by the fire. You can also get delicious cheese and charcuterie plates to enjoy with their beautiful wines.

If you would prefer to head to a fun, kid-friendly place for lunch, Donkey’s fried chicken washed down with a beer or glass of local wine will do the trick nicely.

Ruby Cafe or the nearby Albion Hotel are also great options for lunch if you’ve worked up an appetite from your ride.
