Lost Wax Ring Carving Workshop

Learn the art of carving and shaping wax to create your own unique sterling silver ring.

Learn the art of carving and shaping wax to create your own unique ring. Once you have the knowledge, lost wax carving is something you can continue from home without the need to purchase a lot of expensive tools after the workshop. You can also apply the skills you learn in this workshop to carve brooches, earrings and pendants. You receive making instructions, a list of tools and where to buy them, and all the information you will need to get your pieces cast.

For some inspiration on the types of pieces you can make using the lost wax process check out the Pod Jewellery Pinterest board on Lost Wax Casting Carving.

PLEASE NOTE: THIS COURSE IS HELD OVER TWO HALF DAYS.

On the first half day you will work with wax to carve your ring. The wax rings will then be taken to Melbourne to be cast in silver (included in the course cost) or gold (at an additional cost). We will gather again for half a day one week later to finish off our gold and silver rings. If you’d like to make a ring band, you may want to consider the one day Silver Ring Making Workshop.

No previous experience is necessary. Written instructions, a list of suppliers, tool list and morning/afternoon tea included.  All tools and materials (except gold/platinum) are provided. A sterling silver ring weighing 15 grams is included in the workshop cost. If you would like to make a heavier ring, you can pay for the extra silver, which will be charged at cost price.

Duration: 4 hours each day.

Workshop location: Workshops are held at the Pod Jewellery Studio in Kyneton – a one-hour drive north of Melbourne along the Calder Freeway.
