Half Day Silver Earring/Pendant Workshop

Spend half a day making a pair of sterling silver drop or stud earrings, or a pendant to take home and wear.
Kyneton VIC, Australia

Spend half a day making a pair of sterling silver drop or stud earrings, or a pendant to take home and wear. No previous experience necessary.

You’ll sit at a traditional jeweller’s bench and learn to use a range of tools including a jewellers saw, files and soldering torch. You will also learn techniques including doming, texturing, polishing and finishing. We finish the class making shepherds hooks, earring posts or a bail, and then learn to solder them.

You can see earrings/pendants made by past students on the Pod Jewellery Pinterest Board.

You’ll also learn to use a rolling mill to emboss patterns into the sterling silver using leaves, lace, fabric, wire onion bags, mesh, feathers, leather or you can use one of our selection of patterned rolling plates. You can see the kinds patterns you can emboss using a rolling mill on the Pod Jewellery Rolling Mill Embossed Jewellery Pinterest board.

At the end of this fun class, you’ll take home your pair of handmade sterling silver earrings or a pendant necklace (necklace chain is included).

As this is a half day workshop, some people also choose to also attend the Lost Wax Silver Ring Workshop held in the afternoon following this workshop. We work directly with sterling silver in the Silver Earrings/Pendant Workshop, so you’ll get an understanding of working directly with metal in the morning and then learn a completely different technique of working with wax in the afternoon.

Workshop includes:

  • Morning tea
  • Tools and equipment
  • Sterling silver weighing up to 15 grams, copper and brass
  • Written instructions
  • List of suppliers
  • Tool list
