Travelling by train to the Macedon Ranges

V/Line’s fast-rail service between Melbourne and Bendigo stops at Clarkefield, Riddells Creek, Gisborne, Macedon, Woodend, Kyneton and Malmsbury.

Note: Mount Macedon is not accessible by train. You’ll need a vehicle to ascend the mountain (or bring a road bike if you’re an experienced cyclist).

Accessible toilets are available on all Sprinter and VLocity trains. V/Line has an app to help you stay up-to-date with service information and timetables and plan your journey in advance.

Taking bikes on the V/Line train

Bikes can be carried free of charge but only if space is available. V/Line conductors will determine whether there is enough space for bicycles to be carried safely on each service. Bicycles must not obstruct passageways or doorways and must not inconvenience other customers.

Customers with bicycles are strongly advised to travel at off-peak times and avoid weekday services arriving in Melbourne between 7am and 9:30am or departing Melbourne between 4pm and 7pm.
