Woodend Winter Arts Festival: Mozart Vesperae Solennes de Dominica & Haydn Theresienmesse
Two wonderfully uplifting masterpieces performed by ensemble Gombert with Accademia Arcadia
Performed by ensemble Gombert with Accademia Arcadia, the sacred works of Mozart and Haydn have been among the most popular items in our programming over the past decade and a half. Mozart’s Dominica vespers were written for general use on Sundays at Salzburg Cathedral, and Haydn’s Theresa Mass for the Esterházy court. The Mass takes its name from Maria Theresa of the Two Sicilies, empress consort of the last Holy Roman Emperor, Francis II. Two wonderfully uplifting masterpieces!
