Turning Sunlight into Wine

Experience one of the essential vine-maintenance tasks of the season – managing the tresilling and canopy of the vines. Much of what you learn can be transposed into improving the performance of your garden at home. The second part is to estimate the size of the vintage. A true Hands-On Day in the vines.
Gisborne Peak Winery & Cottages, Short Road, Gisborne VIC, Australia

Canopy Management and Crop Estimation Day at Gisborne Peak Winery.

At Gisborne Peak we have been growing grapes for wine for 42 years now. Over that time we have learned how to get the best balance between our trellis type, canopy density and plant vigour, and the climate to produce what we believe are the best grapes we can possibly deliver into the wine-making phase. This day is all about seeing how the parts of the puzzle fit together in the vineyard at least.

It is an interesting experience, something that you might only do once, but something that you will be happy to have done we are sure. Much of what you learn can be transposed into improving the performance of your garden at home.

After the class work and a brief morning tea we go into the vineyard for about an hour to learn first hand the art/science of canopy management before you are assigned a small patch of vines to work on by yourself, that’s solo, alone, unsupervised and as an individual in case you were unclear. You will be amazed at how quickly you learn to deal with the principles that you were taught and help us turn some sunlight into wine. Help is always at hand! Then it’s back to the marquee for a de-brief, lunch and a glass of wine. We finish by about 1:00pm.

Your ticket includes the workshop, morning tea, vineyard experience, lunch & glass of wine. For more information about this event contact Gisborne Peak Winery.

Cancellation policy: Cancel within 14 days, 100% refund; 7 days 50%; less than 7 days no refund.

Gisborne Peak Winery started out with just a few vines to see how they would go. It has developed as a love and passion and a wonderful lifestyle.

Bob had a vision that grapes would ripen on the Eastern slopes of Mt. Gisborne. Turns out he was right. But it takes a lot of care, a lot of patience and a lot of hard work. He loves it! On the other hand, Barbara loves talking.  She loves to see people enjoying themselves. Put the two together and voila, you have Gisborne Peak Winery & Eco-Cottages.

About the Summertime Fling Festival

The January Summertime Fling Festival features three weeks of events across Macedon Ranges cellar doors, promoting everything wine, food and fun.

Macedon Ranges Wine is running the event to encourage lovers of wine and food to take a well-earned break from 2021. Come and share fun in the fresh air and scenic wide-open spaces (while following COVID protocol of course!).

This is a great opportunity to reconnect with people you may not have seen for a long-time in an easily accessible, central location – that also happens to be stunningly picturesque.

See www.macedonrangeswine.com.au/summertime-fling for full calendar of Summertime Fling Cellar Door events.
