Silver Earring Making Workshop – Pod Jewellery

Spend half a day making a pair of sterling silver drop or stud earrings to take home and wear.

Sit at a traditional jeweller’s bench and learn to use a range of tools including a jewellers saw, files and soldering torch. You will also learn techniques including doming, texturing, polishing and finishing. We finish the class making shepherds hooks or earring posts, and learning to solder them.

You’ll also learn to use a rolling mill to emboss patterns into the sterling silver using leaves, lace, fabric, wire onion bags, mesh, feathers, leather or you can use one of our selection of patterned rolling plates.

At the end of this fun class, you’ll take home your pair of handmade sterling silver earrings.  As this is a half day workshop, some people also choose to also attend the Lost Wax Ring Carving Workshop held in the afternoon following this workshop.

No previous experience necessary. All tools and materials (including sterling silver) are provided. Written instructions and afternoon tea are also included.

Duration: 4 hours.

Workshop location: Workshops are held at the Pod Jewellery Studio in Kyneton – a one-hour drive north of Melbourne along the Calder Freeway. Venue address will be provided one week prior to the workshop to those who are enrolled.
