Puppy Pride
On Sunday 10 April the Kyneton Botanical Gardens will be filled with wagging tails and wet noses as the town hosts its very first ‘Puppy Pride’ event. LGBTIQA+ people, allies and puppies will come together, meet and greet and delight in their beloved four-legged friends.
There will be food trucks offering a variety of local produce and fresh coffee (The Farm Truck, Macedon Ranges Rotary BBQ and the delectable Woodend Ice Cream Co). While dogs and their owners can browse canine and pride-themed market stalls.
Puppies and owners will be entertained with competitions including ‘Fashions on the Fur’, a scavenger hunt, and for those who aren’t dog owners, the ‘Most Lovable Faux Puppy’. There’ll be prizes and special guests. And for those who want to just sit back, relax and enjoy the beauty of the Botanic Gardens, you’ll find plenty of space to roll out your picnic blanket and set up your water bowl.
The Kyneton Botanic Gardens are situated alongside the Campaspe River Walk. This is a 3.5 kilometre walk which takes in a sculpture park, platypus habitat and old swimming pool weirs. Come and enjoy the clean air of the Macedon Ranges and get those feet and paws moving with a group walk leading into the event. Bring your friends and family, connect with people you haven’t seen for a while, or come along and make new friends. You will find a warm, inclusive welcome at Puppy Pride.
Sunday 10 April, 12pm, Kyneton Botanic Gardens, Mollison Street, Kyneton. Dog walk starts at 11.30am at the outdoor gym which you can reach from St Agnes Place, Kyneton.
This event is being organised by Sunbury and Cobaw Community Health which has two programs that actively work to connect the LGBTIQA+ communities in the Macedon Ranges, champion positive health and wellbeing outcomes, and increase LGBTIQA+ visibility. CLIP – the Country LGBTIQA+ Inclusion Program and the youth-focused WayOut program organise a number of events and groups that celebrate the rainbow community.
