Create a beautifully bespoke bottle carrier for yourself or someone special in this 6-hour workshop taking place at Woodend Neighbourhood House in the Macedon Ranges.

Learn essential leatherworking techniques including cutting, tooling, edging, dyeing, finishing and stitching as you craft a piece tailored to your personal style.

Designed to hold a 500ml bottle, the carrier features a comfortable handle and a snap attachment for securing it to a backpack. A D-ring on the opposite side also allows you to add your own strap and wear it over your shoulder.

What you’ll learn:

  • Safe tool use
  • Leather differences
  • Tooling methods
  • Bevelling and burnishing
  • Wax braid stitching
  • Dyeing and finishing methods

No experience is necessary. Come along to make new friends, share some laughs and learn a new skill or two.

What you’ll get:

  • A sense of respect for your leather and responsible use of leather
  • A sense of pride in your achievement
  • Increased confidence
  • Creative development
  • Social engagement
  • A personalised, useful piece of artwork to keep

Bring your lunch and snacks for the day, and, of course, your 500ml drink bottle.

All materials and tools provided.

The class is suitable for adults and children (minimum 12 years old). Children under 16 must be accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult.

Who will be leading the class?

Wendy Tonkin is a qualified leatherworker with around eight years of experience. Based in Williamstown, Wendy recently launched her own leatherwork teaching business.
