Canteena is an exciting addition to the Gisborne café scene.  Come to 18 Prince Street (behind the Gisborne Central Shopping Centre) and find a warm, cosy and quiet café known for great food with an exciting ethnic twist.  We are open for breakfast and lunch six days a week.

Dinner is served on Friday and Saturday evening from 6.00 pm to 9.00 pm

Using fresh ingredients we create dishes with a classic continental flair, to be enjoyed with a glass of wine and most importantly – the best coffee in Gisborne and surrounding areas. The coffee is the specialty of the house.

Canteena is a little bit special.  Alongside the classics, there are dishes with an ethnic flair not yet seen in Gisborne. Come and cradle a glass of wine by the fire ( during winter ), indulge in great food freshly prepared at an affordable price.  Enjoy our friendly welcoming service, ‘real’ hot chocolate and unbeatable coffee.
