More from Fook Shing

Located in Piper Street Kyneton, Fook Shing brings modern and vibrant south east Asian cuisine in an historic gold rush era pub.

First operated as a temperance hotel (Accommodation only, No Grog!) by the Alexander family, Fook Shing has seen many changes in its life. Originally hosting coaches and their crew on the gold route it is believed that Fook Shing stayed at the Pub as it offered excellent stables most suitable for constabulary.

Fook himself was appointed Chinese detective by the Head of the Victorian Police Force (detective branch), overseeing disputes in the goldfields and one of the men who had been involved in the hunt for the Kelly Gang. Wealthy, connected and well represented in court, he kept a pistol under his pillow for when extra-legal methods were required to protect his followers.

Fast forward to the current day, the historic hotel building takes the form of a vibrant Southeast Asian inspired restaurant and bar.
Fook Shing takes on subtle Singaporean interior styling to complement the 1850’s brickwork and original timber flooring.
Our team of hospitality veterans come from a diverse background of experience and are proud Macedon Ranges locals.

As you walk into the foyer, you’ll be greeted by a larger-than-life likeness of the notorious Fook himself (captured from early drawings by local artist Amber McLindin), before being escorted through the labyrinth of kaleidoscopic dining and drinking spaces to your seats… then the fun begins!

Executive Chef Danielle Rensonnet brings a menu full of flavour inspired by traditional dishes from across Southeast Asia using local and regional Victorian produce.

If you’re a fan of this exotic cuisine then you already know that each dish is designed to be shared; with a vast array of flavours, spices and sensations why would you want to stick to a single dish anyway!
Complimenting these vibrant flavours are a list of classic cocktails with an oriental twist, as well as a curated menu of beer, wine, and spirits (sourced locally wherever possible).

So, all that’s left is to do is book in, kick back and let the FS team take care of you! Choose to dine fireside in the cooler months or opt for a table on the deck with friends in the sunshine!
