More from Macedon Cottage

Macedon Cottage is situated at the end of a cul-de-sac. Upon driving into the property you are surrounded by an established garden with large trees and shrubs and in spring there are many bulbs blooming along with rhododendrons, azaleas and camelias. The property is unique in that it is backed onto untamed bushland. With over an acre of garden, including an orchard and a children’s play house, kangaroos, koalas, possums and lizards also call it home. Walking through the property and out the back gate takes you on a walk through wonderful native flowers and amazing gums, favourites of koalas. Turning right and heading across the road is the pine plantation. A large dirt road takes you into the pine plantation where there is a stunning lake for swimming, fishing or a beautiful stroll. You can walk the circumference of the lake and come out at Nursery Road which leads back to the house. The walk takes about 30 minutes. Once back at the property you enter a brick cottage that is full of family charm and history. A warm log fire heats the cold days and an air conditioner cools you in the summer. The house is open plan so you can cook and dine and enjoy a lay back environment. There are three bedrooms all with wonderful views into the garden accommodating six people. Two bedrooms have a double bed and one has a queen size bed. Laundry facilities are also available along with a dishwasher. On the back verandah, which runs the full length of the house, there is a barbecue and it is beautiful to sit out at night as the sun sets eating dinner. The house has (NBN) internet for you to use freely whilst you stay. To assist you throughout your stay the caretakers, Vicki and Peter, are onsite and live in a studio in the garden.

Macedon is part of the Macedon Ranges and so you are within driving distance of the Mount Macedon Historic Cross, Camels Hump, Hanging Rock, wonderful local wineries and amazing bush walks. The township of Macedon, a 15 minute walk away, has a supermarket, bakery, pizza restaurant, news agency and a cafe. Local townships of Mount Macedon, Gisborne and Woodend each have fabulous cafes, restaurants, hotels and places to shop. There are many attractions in this region and Macedon sits right in the middle of them all. Daylesford is a 45 minute drive away and Kyneton is just 20 minutes away.

Whether you are wanting a quiet weekend away in the winter snuggled around a wood fire, or a spring break to enjoy all the flowers or a summer break, Macedon Cottage is the place to be. The property is available for short and long stay arrangements. Weekend stays are two day minimum.
