Woodend Winter Arts Festival: Mozart’s Vesperae Solennes de Dominica & Haydn’s Theresienmesse
Mozart's Vesperae Solennes de Dominica and Haydn's Theresienmesse at Woodend
The sacred works of Mozart and Haydn have been among the most popular items in the Woodend Winter Arts Festival programming over the past decade and a half. Mozart’s Dominica vespers were written for general use on Sundays at Salzburg Cathedral, and Haydn’s Theresa Mass for the Esterházy court. The Mass takes its name from Maria Theresa of the Two Sicilies, empress consort of the last Holy Roman Emperor, Francis II. Two wonderfully uplifting masterpieces!
