Be a part of this seven day masterclass in Windsor Chairmaking at the workshop of one of Australia’s finest and highly regarded chair makers and instructors. Over seven days you will handcraft a chair like no other; the design will be launched in 2020 – and will suit both contemporary and traditional interiors and would sit well in any style of home, study or office. NOTE: experience is necessary, due to complexities with this workshop, you must have done a chair making workshop prior to this class, some pre-preparation will be expected of you to be brought along to the workshop.

Participants will be taken through traditional processes such as hand carving the seat to steam bending the crest rail, each back spindle will be hand carved with a drawknife and spokeshave using a shave horse. You will be using traditional tools such as scorpes, draw knives, travishers and spokeshaves and learn how to use hand tools rather than machinery and take home all the knowledge and techniques – as well as the patterns for your chair. You will fit moveable parts to the chair that will make your chair one of six in the world of this particular design.

At the completion of this workshop you will take home a timeless chair that you have handcrafted; a true heirloom piece that you will pass down through generations.

Course runs for 7 consecutive days / approx 60 – 68 hours.

Cost: $2000 includes all materials, Tea & coffee provided.

NOTE : $500 Deposit to reserve your position. An invoice for the balance $1500 will be sent out one month prior to the class.
