Kyneton Town Hall Retro Flicks: The Letter

Retro film screenings at the Kyneton Town Hall
129 Mollison Street, Kyneton VIC, Australia

The Letter (95 mins)

Screening featuring the 1940s.

The Letter (1940) is a star turn by Bette Davis in this justly celebrated film-noir melodrama set in a Hollywood vision of Somerset Maugham’s Colonial Malaya.

We are shining a spotlight on Kyneton Town Hall (KTH) in its 90th year with a series of free retro film screenings highlighting its beginnings as a picture theatre in 1929, and its civic and community significance.

KTH Flicks is a curated cinema and film experience that includes  classic movies from the 1930s to 1970s played on the big screen at this remarkable venue, highlighting jewels of the silver screen that (we like to think) had a short run at KTH.

Before each main feature film are cartoons, news reels, trailers for forthcoming attractions, government propaganda and public information shorts, episodes of swashbuckling adventure serials, glass advertising slides and glimpses of real life in the home movies of ordinary Victorians.
