Extinct Lancefield Megafauna Festival

A celebration of our megafauna discoveries and indigenous culture in the region.

This is the 4th Annual Extinct Lancefield Megafauna Festival celebrating the rich megafauna fossil deposit located at Lancefield Swamp. The ‘megafauna’ plantation in High Street will be the central activity area with a marquee from Museums Victoria, ‘Frankenroo’ the Macropus titan fossil, a mega sand kigaw, mega mural handpainting, clay scultpture workshops and much more. You can visit the Lancefield Swamp where scientists will be conducting a sieving demonstration. There are talks about fungi, the natural environment and the work of palaeontologists. An information booth will be located in the plantation.
