The annual Macedon Ranges Wine & Food Budburst Festival will be held on 17 & 18 November 2018. Our giveaway offers one lucky winner (and friend) the chance to experience the best wine and local produce the region has to offer!

About the Festival

Over 30 wineries join forces across 20 venues for one weekend to celebrate budburst.

Your wine tasting adventure can be experienced a number of ways.

If you wish to self-drive, the Festival offers ‘wine loop’ suggestions to choose from. These give you a good idea of where to go, based around your wine preferences. Alternatively, if you want someone else to do the driving, join a Festival hop-on-hop-off bus service or book a scheduled tour bus. Simple!

In addition, selected wineries will be hosting a number of special gourmet events. Held in conjunction with local restaurateurs, you can enjoy long table lunches and four course dinners, canape parties and meze feasts. It’s the ultimate foodie heaven!

Find out more about suggested ‘wine loops’, tour options and special events throughout the Festival.

A Hot Spot for Cool Climate Wine

The Macedon Ranges is approximately one hour from Melbourne and is the only cool climate wine growing region on the Australian mainland. Considered to be ‘an exciting region with a very bright future’ by The Real Review, it is rapidly becoming Victoria’s hot spot for wine tasting.

While there are 27 cellar doors regularly open in the Macedon Ranges, the annual Macedon Ranges Wine & Food Budburst Festival provides a convenient (and fun) way to experience over 30 wineries in one weekend.

About Macedon Ranges Wines

Most local producers are boutique, family owned affairs that produce their signature wines using age-old techniques. As a result, Macedon Ranges wineries offer wine that is limited in quantity and exceptionally high in quality.

The Macedon Ranges boasts over 21 grape varieties, grown in volcanic lava, granite, non-marine sedimentary rock and alluvial soils. Out of 41 wineries in the region, 37 produce under 100 tonne of grapes annually. It’s all about small batch grapes in the Macedon Ranges, grown and vinified with love to produce a diversity of wine styles.

Popular Wine Varieties

Popular varieties of the region are delicate sparkling wines, refined Chardonnay and award winning Pinot Noir.

In vineyards surrounding Lancefield, Romsey and Trentham, delicate floral aromas can be found in the wine due to slow ripening during cool autumnal temperatures. As you move beyond Kyneton toward the rocky outcrops to the Cobaws, more robust styles can be found with Shiraz and Cabernet.

The Cleveland Winery Experience

At the end of a day wine tasting you can kick back and relax at Cleveland Winery on the Saturday night.  This award-winning winery boasts an underground Cellar Door, a la carte restaurant, tennis court, fitness centre, and guest lounges with billiard tables, darts & table tennis.

They cook with local, ethical produce to create delicious meals and sweet treats, and serve organic fair-trade coffee.

Winners are Grinners

The Festival offers a personalised experience to learn firsthand from some of Victoria’s best artisans of wine. In between wine tasting, you can enjoy live entertainment, local produce, fresh country air and good ol’ fashioned hospitality. Sounds good, yes? Don’t miss out on the chance to win our Budburst Weekend Getaway!
