Experience a Romantic Winter Macedon Ranges Retreat
Your special getaway begins with a trip back in time in the rural landscapes of Carlsruhe.
Yesteryear Today Carriages
Meet Rose and Patrick the horse for a relaxing one hour horse-drawn carriage ride along the old Cobb & Co Stagecoach route. Cocooned under warm woolly blankets with a hot thermos of tea by your side, you’ll be lulled into a state of serenity by the the mesmerising sound of Patrick’s clip-clopping.
This unique vintage carriage ride takes you under a canopy of gum trees and past vistas of rolling farmland, with the iconic Hanging Rock as a backdrop.
The rest of the afternoon is then all yours to explore at leisure.
Enjoy a scenic drive into Kyneton (maybe stopping off at a one or two cellar doors along the way), then check into your luxury overnight accommodation at ‘The Carrick’. The buzzing village of Kyneton awaits; with fantastic retail shops, art galleries, cafes, wine bars, fine dining restaurants and gin distillery to discover.
Carrick Luxury Accommodation
The Carrick sits within an 1859 heritage-listed bluestone home, a short walk from Kyneton’s best restaurants and pubs.
Featuring its own private entrance, this boutique offering includes a king-size bed, open fireplace and TV (not that we expect there’ll be much screen time on this trip!). It also boasts what may be the biggest en suite bathroom in the Macedon Ranges, with a huge bath and walk-in shower.
A roaring fireplace plus a Macedon Ranges red equals winter nirvana…
Awaiting you on arrival will be a bottle of 2016 Shiraz from one of the oldest vineyards in the Macedon Ranges, Zig Zag Winery. This is a classic cool climate Shiraz and an absolute cracker!
Once you have settled into your romantic abode and had a little cuddle (and tipple) by the fire, it’s time to experience the gourmet delights of Kyneton’s vibrant restaurant scene.
No need to drive either – just rug up in your warm winter attire and head out the door.
Silver Ring Making Workshop
Treat yourself to a fantastic brekkie and hot coffee along Piper Street before heading to your silver ring making workshop at Pod Jewellery Studio.
In this super fun course, you will design and create your own made-to-measure sterling silver ring in just one day.
Sitting at a traditional jeweller’s bench, you will learn to use precision tools including calipers, files, pliers, hammers, a soldering torch, ring mandrel, punches and more. No experience necessary!
Of course it’s not all about work and no play. Your ring making workshop also includes a gourmet lunch at a local cafe.
At the end of class you’ll each take home a beautiful, handmade sterling silver ring as a memento of your romantic Macedon Ranges getaway.
About Your Teacher
Bec de Podolinsky is a Jeweller and teacher based in Kyneton. She teaches people to design and make beautiful pieces of jewellery and also guides couples through the process of making their own wedding rings. Whether you’re a beginner, hobbyist or an up-and-coming jeweller, you will learn at your own pace.
My wife and I joined a silver ring making class run by Bec, it was a lot of fun getting to form our own rings, to learn the process and finding out how to fix any problems that came up. Using the tools was a lot simpler than I thought it would have been and Bec’s guidance made it even easier. The group size was small enough that Bec managed to give us all a good amount of her time and it felt well run. Also on a side note lunch was amazing and I would definitely recommend this class to other people. Adam from Scotland.
