Flop House was established in 2013 to welcome visitors to the Central Victorian region with an offering of good design and access to local produce. Inspired by our surrounds, we provide boutique accommodation and guests have the opportunity to borrow bikes to tour the town with our tailored guide. We supply guests with a welcome hamper that includes locally grown produce and offer discounts for participating in local workshops. At our newest house, River House we will be offering wellness retreats in collaboration with Maiaveda Day Spa.
With a love for good linen, textiles and chic Scandinavian design we ensure that each Flop House breathes an air of simply luxury and refined living. This is extended to our boutique store on Piper Street, Upstairs, selling European vintage furniture sourced by our friends at Grandfather’s Axe, tried and true Pendleton Woollen Mills blankets and locally made Salus Body products.
Since humble beginnings with a single guesthouse, Harpsichord House, Flop House now manages five guesthouses in Kyneton and neighbouring Lauriston, sleeping a total of twenty guests.
Chairmakers House – sleeps 4
The cabin was lovingly restored in Shaker style by Rundell & Rundell Chair Makers. Incorporating paintings by local artist, John Lloyd, Grandfather’s Axe furniture and Pendleton textiles, the scene is set for a magnificent rest.
Farm House – sleeps 4
Set on 2 acres. The house has two bedrooms and caters for up to four adults. Large living and dining area, perfect for cooking or entertaining with stone bench tops and Ilve oven. Separate stone bathhouse, featuring a locally crafted Boyd Alternatives bath and vintage chandelier! Minimum two-night stays.
Wormwood House & Studio – sleeps six
Two bedroom early 1900’s house with a separate, self-contained studio. The house and studio are available to rent separately or together, making it suitable for couples or groups.
River House – sleeps six with pool, yoga pavillion and tennis court
River House is located on the Coliban river in Lauriston. The house is now being offered for luxury resort style accommodation for small groups and offers range of in-house services including private catering and massage. Maiaveda Day Spa will host a series of Ayurvedic wellness retreats here. More details available on our website.
All within a short distance of each other, Flop House can also assist with providing referrals for other accommodation for weddings and other events in the Daylesford and Macedon Ranges region. Harpsichord House is dog friendly and we can assist with referrals to kennels if required.
“The feel of these lodgings is distinctly Scandinavian and invites quiet introspection. There are beautiful books to pore over, local, artisan-produced furniture to loll in and, everywhere, the space, light and level of comfort you need to unwind, commune with nature and live on a very uncomplicated level. Kyneton is a good base from which to explore the region..” The Age, Good Weekend.
