Music and theatre in the Macedon Ranges
Music and theatrical arts play an important role in the Macedon Ranges cultural scene.
Musicians, actors and craftsmen of all persuasions have traditionally found a quiet home here and their presence adds to the richness of the culture of the Macedon Ranges. They are passionate contributors to their local community.
The highlight of the Macedon Ranges music calendar is the acclaimed Woodend Winter Arts Festival, held on the Queens Birthday long weekend in June and attracting a range of national and international artists to Woodend for a program of classical music, jazz, readings, recitals and visual arts.
Kyneton makes a strong musical contribution to the region with the Kyneton Music Festival, celebrating indie, rock, alternative, grunge and other edgy genres, while the very best in touring theatre productions perform at The Town Hall. Local theatre companies and ensembles perform year round across the region.
