Hanging Rock is the perfect base, you can gather in the large shady picnic grounds and play games on the wide expanses of lawn or get your walking shoes on and explore the Rock. Walks can be taken on the trails and paths that weave through the reserve past local flora and fauna, or take a fishing rod and try your luck in the dam, which is regularly stocked with fish (don’t forget your fishing licence!). In fact there are a number of great fishing spots dotted all around the Macedon Ranges.
