OPEN GARDENSVisitors return to the Macedon Ranges time and time again to enjoy public and private gardens.
The region is home to many illustrious names in horticulture. They either live here like Michael McCoy, Stephen Ryan and Paul Bangay, or have contributed greatly to contemporary gardening through involvement in private gardens in the Macedon Ranges. April and November are Open Garden months in the Macedon Ranges with some of the regions best gardens on show in an explosion of autumn and spring colours. Others such as Forest Glade, Bringalbit, Tieve Tara and the Edna Walling garden at Campaspe Country House are open to the public during the entire year. Kyneton, Malmsbury and Gisborne boast Botanic Gardens open to the public seven days a week. Where there are keen gardeners there are great nurseries, and the Macedon Ranges has an overwhelming array, from cottage garden specialists to native plant and rare species nurseries.
