RESTAURANTS

Fabulous produce, innovative young chefs…no wonder the Macedon Ranges is becoming a foodie haven.

restaurantsThe Macedon Ranges reputation for quality food continues to grow every year, fuelled by the abundance and variety of fresh, regional produce, the innovative and creative skills of a new breed of chefs, and the entrepreneurial flair of restaurant owners.

Once, top-notch food experiences could only be found in the city. Now palates are being satisfied on a much wider scale as the sophistication of fine dining and quality meals reaches out into regional areas.

In the Macedon Ranges, Annie Smithers has led the charge, establishing her popular bistro and provedore in Kyneton. Joining her is Damien Sandercock at Pizza Verde, and Matthew Fegan of The Royal George, who are both adding to the exciting culinary mix of Piper Street, Kyneton.

In fact, Piper Street can claim to be one of the most-awarded dining streets in regional Victoria, with several hats from The Age Good Food Guide and the best Cheap Eats award.

But the Macedon Ranges dining experience is much, much more than Piper Street. All over the region are quality restaurants and cafes that will satiate even the most discerning diner.

Campaspe Country House and Sequoia are standout restaurants in Woodend with a high reputation in fine dining circles, whilst Holgates Brewhouse at Keating’s Hotel serves top-quality modern food.

Sitka and The Clock and Beaver are bringing people to Macedon like never before.

The Malmsbury Bakery is more casual, but people travel long distances for their hearty pies. Roombas is leading the charge in Gisborne, and Soltan Pepper has earned a high reputation in Romsey.
