LOCAL PRODUCE
Perfect growing conditions and tender-loving care ensure a rich harvest of regional produce
Rich volcanic soils, distinct seasons, bountiful water, with plenty of time to watch the garden grow - these are the signatures of Macedon Ranges produce. Once known primarily for its natural landmarks and heritage, the region is now equally recognised for its fabulous fresh produce and the passion of its producers, provedores and creative chefs. The Kyneton, Gisborne and Lancefield Farmers Markets showcase the very best local produce each month including olive oils and tapenades, honey, organic vegetables and fruits, local bread, cheese and meat. Local heroes servicing the community and cafes’ are Emelia’s: The Saucy Australian, Anna Rosa’s Spaghetti Engineering, Kyneton Olive Oil, Holgates Brewhouse, and our near neighbours Holy Goat Cheese, Tuki Trout Farm, and Fernleigh Farms. All are recognised across the state, and all pride themselves on unadulterated food and beverage experiences. Holgates Brewhouse, situated in the Keatings Hotel on the main street of Woodend is the premier 100% independent micro brewer of the region.
Eating in a region as beautiful as the Macedon Ranges has benefits aside from the pure pleasure of fresh ingredients.
