Food & Wine

One of the signatures of the Macedon Ranges region is its emphasis of fine food and wine.

foodandwineThe reputation for food and wine excellence in the Macedon Ranges continues to grow, encouraging an impressive list of restaurateurs, café owners, wine makers and producers to establish themselves in the region.

Fertile soils, consistent rainfall, distinct growing seasons combined with the remarkable skills of local growers, manufacturers and chefs are bringing exceptional quality food and wine to the table in every village.

The 2007 Age Good Food Guide enthuses that the Macedon Ranges is, “…a region undergoing an exciting food and wine renaissance.” The Age Epicure claims, “This is the newest foodie hotspot in the state.”

Even the most direct route through the region passes fields of flourishing crops and laden vines, with many spots to buy from the farm gate or cellar. A visit to any village will give you the chance to eat and drink local produce at cafes, markets, and gourmet larders.

Every cellar door visit is your opportunity to meet the mind and hands behind the wine you are drinking. It is often the winemakers themselves who will pour your tasting glass.

The Macedon Ranges rightly boasts the boutique food & wine experience at its very best.
