AUTUMN

Many people consider autumn to be their favourite season in the Macedon Ranges.

As the days cool and the colour of the landscape changes with the passage of autumn, the Macedon Ranges puts on a different cloak.

Drive anywhere through the Macedon Ranges during the autumn season and you’ll be greeted by an explosion of rich colours on the majestic trees that cover the region.

From deep reds to burnt oranges to golden yellows, the changing season provides a great opportunity to showcase the beauty of the region. Contrast these vivid colours with blue skies, green shrubs and bright flowers, and you can understand why many people consider autumn to be their favourite season in the Macedon Ranges.

Everywhere you travel, the falling leaves form a carpet of autumn colours on the ground, adding lustre to the gorgeous colours that exist in the region.

The gardens of the Macedon Ranges take centre stage as enthusiasts from all over the country descend on what has been called, ‘…the most significant collection of exotic gardens in the country.”

The Open Garden scheme in full swing for its autumn season and other great festivals celebrate the beauty of the gardens in the region.

The local winemakers are flat out with harvest, building another vintage for the growing reputation of local wine excellence. Bike riders take to the roads, and keynote musicians come to the region to perform on national tours.

The Town Hall in Kyneton usually has a full program of comedy, music and drama, and music events are held across many venues.

The ANZAC Day dawn service at the Memorial Cross on Mt Macedon continues to draw huge crowds, while the hugely popular Campout at Hanging Rock happens in March.
