MUSIC AND THEATRE

The cultural vibe of the Macedon Ranges has enticed much-loved entertainers to call the region ‘home’.

musicMusic and theatrical arts play an important role in the Macedon Ranges cultural scene.

Musicians, actors and craftsmen of all persuasions have traditionally found a quiet home in the Macedon Ranges, and their presence here adds to the richness of the local culture. These people are also very passionate about contributing to their local community.

For example, Jacqueline Ogeil and John O’Donnell feature on the world’s finest chamber music stages and artistically direct the acclaimed Woodend Winter Arts Festival, which grows in stature every year. The Festival, held on the Queens Birthday long weekend in June, attracts a range of national and international artists to Woodend for a programme of classical music, jazz, readings, recitals and visual arts.

Local theatre companies and ensembles perform year round across the region, while the very best in touring theatre productions perform at The Town Hall in Kyneton.
