GOLF

If you have your clubs in the car, then we have a golf course for you in the Macedon Ranges.

Six public golf courses, all within 30 minutes of each other, is a blessing that the Macedon Ranges golfers have tucked in their bags. All have particular styles of terrain and layout, and all of them possess their own challenges for the experienced golfer or weekend hacker.

Gisborne Golf Course has been recently reconditioned with new greens, bunkers and longer holes, and provides a good challenge for golfers wanting to use every club in their bag. The Pro shop is open during business hours and offers hire clubs and buggies.

Woodend is a spectacular links course built over and around hilly country on the outskirts of town. Views to Hanging Rock and Mount Macedon are striking on the front nine, and the village of Woodend is laid out amongst the leafy oaks below. Watch out for the amazing 11th hole, a true leap of faith, and the rope pull installed to bring you back up the hill after negotiating most of the back nine.

Set in classic dry Australian bushland, Kyneton Golf Course on Black Hill Road boasts fairways lined with matured trees and manicured greens. Mount Macedon Golf Course is great for a quick nine on the way up to the top of the mountain. There are also public courses at Romsey and Lancefield, and private courses are dotted around various estates in the Macedon Ranges.
