CYCLING

Forget the car…..the Macedon Ranges offers some of the best and prettiest cycling conditions in the state

The Macedon Ranges region is starting to receive a reputation as one of the best road cycling areas in the State.

A significant lack of road traffic, cool climate, and easy access in and out of Melbourne provides simple and safe access to the Macedon Ranges roads, and a lovely backdrop for the solo cyclist or tour group.

Coffee and cake can be found at any of the many bakeries in the region, and all corners of the Shire are asphalted, ready to be explored by two wheels.

The Macedon Ranges Cycling Club offers rides every other weekend for their members and they are only too happy to take visitors along with them.

For those who are into something a bit more extreme, there is a growing cordon of mountain bike riders who are exploiting the bushland and gravity of Mount Macedon Regional Park to the full.

Dirt tracks and paths wind down from the Memorial Cross park, all the way to the Macedon and Woodend townships – with some white-knuckle action to be found along the way!
