Website Update - Launching the social networkingOne of the dreams of this website and its producers was to create a way for people who live in the Macedon Ranges to communicate their special local knowledge to those who are deciding to visit. Those special water holes (when there's H2O in them), the hidden ancient structures, the 'vibe' of their preferred cafe on a Sunday afternoon are all known and loved by Macedon residents. However, if they're off the beaten track then visitors don't know about them - and it's a missed opportunity to inspire, entertain, relax or surprise the passer by. It's good marketing but there's also a sense of pride driving this ambition. The new social networking tools are designed to achieve these goals. The website allows people (both visitors and tourism operators) to create an itinerary that may include places of significance and then pass this itinerary onto friends and family as a link to a www address... ie. 'we had a great weekend starting at...' Tourism operators can now load more images into a stylish slideshow system. A "rate and review" section will allow for honest opinion to be presented, and operators can keep website visitors abreast of current news and events via both their new 'events' section as well as blogging tools. All of these tools are available by clicking along the top of a listing. Not all listings feature the social networking tools, but those who do will enjoy the opportunity to present 'more' to our much loved website visitors. I can't close without adding that the social networking toolset sits alongside 2 tried and tested website developments that have been rolled out in the last month or so - > the opportunity to book room nights online and the chance to shop in the Macedon Ranges without leaving your chair by visiting our online shop. All tools are accessible from the home page and if there are queries about anything technical or otherwise, there's always the link at the bottom of the page via which you can submit your feedback.
We remain very grateful to tourism operators of the Macedon Ranges for their support and their patience during the development process.
