Riesling & Seafood Sunday
Gisborne Peak Winery Celebrates ‘The Summer of Riesling Festival’
As part of the nationwide 'Summer of Riesling Festival', Gisborne Peak Winery is holding a Riesling & Seafood Sunday at the Winery. Why? Because they feel that one of the world's truly noble white grape variety, Riesling, is under-rated and unappreciated by most and never really get's its day in the sun.
On Sunday, 12th February, the winery will have older vintages of their Riesling available for tasting, comparison and for sales by the glass. “Riesling ages in an interesting way”, says vigneron Bob Nixon. “It often brings on a kerosene nose, and awful as that sounds, behind that boutique is an excellent, rich Riesling. Our exercise on the day is to show how well Riesling matches with seafood. Oysters and Prawns in particular”.
Oysters will be served in two styles, natural and Kilpatrick, and sizzling prawns cooked in the wood-fired oven as well as chilled.
Call the winery on (03) 5428 2228 to indicate you will be coming, or visit the website for further details.
